Natural and healthy baby ice creams
Homemade ice creams that are made with natural ingredients and that do not contain sweeteners or chemical additives can be a healthy option for babies of all ages.
We must know what foods are suitable for our baby depending on their age, because as good mothers, we know that preparing an ice cream for a 6-month-old baby is not the same as for an 18-month-old baby.
Ice creams ingredients
There are a number of ingredients that always work and that we usually have at home. These ingredients are:
- Fruit. Fruits and especially seasonal ones are necessary and perfect for making homemade, healthy and delicious ice cream. These fruits can be frozen and then by blending, for example, a little watermelon, melon, pear, strawberries or pineapple, filling some ice cream molds that babies can easily manipulate, we would have healthy ice cream for your baby.
- Dairy: If you are going to use dairy products, they should not have sugar and be natural so that they provide creaminess. If the baby drinks breast milk, you can use the breast milk itself to freeze it and make the most nutritious ice cream. This option is a great way to soothe babies when teeth start to come in. Mixing fruits with breast milk is also another option. From 9 months you can introduce small amounts of yogurt and remember that until 12 months, it is not recommended that they drink whole milk..
Making ice cream with breast milk
We are going to tell you how to make a perfect ice cream for babies with breast milk.
First of all, fill the molds with breast milk and take them to the freezer. You can include pieces of mixed ripe fruit well crushed. Your baby will love it!
A little before it is finished freezing, place the ice cream sticks and return it to the freezer until it is completely frozen.
Elaboration ice cream with fruits from 6 months
In this case we are going to prepare ice creams with various fruits.
We will use 100 grams of mixed fruit (strawberries, kiwi, pear…) and 100 grams of ripe banana. You have to crush the same amount of ripe banana as fruit. In the event that you want ice creams of a single flavor, the same amount of the chosen fruit would be crushed with the same amount of ripe banana. For example, if it is a strawberry ice cream, it would be 100 grams of strawberries and 100 grams of ripe banana.
We fill the molds, and as with breast milk ice cream, a little before it is frozen, we will introduce the ice cream stick and freeze it again until it is completely frozen.
From 9 months we could also introduce natural yogurt.
