Shakes for babies from 6 months
Making homemade shakes for babies over 6 months is an excellent way to provide them with a large amount of good nutrients.
It is essential that you use anti-colic bottles to drink these shakes, to avoid infant colic, which is a nightmare for many first-time mothers and fathers.
Preparation of shakes
Preferably use breast milk over formula. It is very important to avoid sugar and if it is necessary to sweeten it, a good substitute would be date paste, for example.
One of the shakes that we suggest is fruit-based. Being a baby less than 1 year old, it is advisable that the fruits that we will use will be apple, pear and banana. From the year on, we will be able to incorporate other fruits such as blueberries, watermelon or peach.
Another of the bottles that we can make will be the cereal one, where we will use oatmeal and cookies without added sugar.
Ingredients
The ingredients to prepare the fruit bottle would be:
- 30 grams of apple
- 30 grams of sweet pear
- 30 grams of banana
- 100 ml preferably breast milk (if formula will not be used)
First of all, we will wash the fruit and peel it. We will crush all the fruit together with the milk for a minute. Then we will pass the fruit smoothie through a fine strainer. The fibers that remain can be used for a porridge with a spoon, but in the bottle they would obstruct the output of the smoothie.
The ingredients to prepare the cereal bottle would be:
- 150ml of breast milk (if not, it would be formula)
- 1 teaspoon of oatmeal
- 35 grams of cookies without sugar
- 1 teaspoon date paste
In this case, we will start by heating the milk to 40 degrees. We will add the oatmeal, the cookies and the date paste. Beat with a hand mixer for 1 minute. To give it to the baby, we will test the temperature first.
These two shakes, one fresh and the other warm, will be very well received by our baby and will also provide essential nutrients for its development.
